biography
Jeff Elrod, born 1966 in Dallas, Texas, is an american abstract painter. In his works he explores the relationship between hand-painted and digitally created markings. Elrod uses editing programs like Photoshop or Illustrator and transfers those designs onto the canvas by using the „analogue“ techniques such as painting or drawing. This practice is influenced by the emergence of abstract art in the late 20th century, now combining it with software and printing technology. Elrod achieves shifts between flat areas of color and an illusory depth that results in retinal effects.
His works were shown at The Museum of Modern Art (New York), The Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), The Whitney Museum of American Art (New York), The Centre Pompidou (Paris) and The Houston Museum of Fine Art (Houston) among others.
